A grading report records the diamond’s measured characteristics. Use its report number to verify the details with the issuing laboratory.

Depth percentage compares the diamond’s total depth with its width. It helps describe the stone’s proportions.

The table is the large, flat facet on top of a diamond. Table percentage compares its width with the diamond’s width.

Length-to-width ratio describes how elongated a diamond appears. A ratio close to 1 indicates a more equal length and width.

Fluorescence is the visible glow some diamonds show under ultraviolet light. The grade describes its strength.

Colour intensity describes the strength of colour in a fancy-coloured diamond.

Symmetry describes the precision and alignment of a diamond’s facets.

Polish describes the quality of the finish on a diamond’s facet surfaces.

Cut describes how a diamond’s proportions and workmanship affect its light return. It is different from shape.

Clarity describes internal inclusions and surface blemishes, assessed under 10× magnification. A higher grade means fewer or less noticeable characteristics under this examination.

Natural diamonds form in the earth. Lab-grown diamonds are produced in a laboratory.

The stock ID identifies this diamond in the supplier’s inventory.

Shape describes the outline of a diamond, such as round, oval or pear. It is different from the cut grade.

A diamond carat is the internationally recognised unit of measurement used to specify the stone's weight. Learn More
The Gemmological Institute of America (GIA) colour scale is the industry standard for diamond grading. The GIA diamond colour grades range from D (colourless) to Z. Learn More
